The European Union will continue to provide military and financial support to Ukraine despite threats from Donald Trump to cut aid, said Peter Stano, the European Commission's lead spokesperson for foreign affairs, according to the Polish news agency PAP.

Stano also asserted that the European Union will seek a peaceful agreement with Russia on terms favorable to Ukraine.

He added that speculations about Europe being left alone in supporting Ukraine are premature and recalled the guaranteed financing until next year.

"The European Union and its member states remain committed to continuing to provide assistance to Ukraine and supporting its struggle to restore unity, independence, and territorial integrity," Stano said.

Asked whether the EU will oppose Trump's declared attempts to force Ukraine to accept a peace agreement with Russia on unfavorable terms for Kyiv, European Commission chief spokesperson Eric Mamer stated that the Commission is convinced that it is in the interests of the United States, as well as the European Union, to maintain a strong and sovereign Ukraine.

"We have repeatedly said that this war can end tomorrow if Russia stops its aggression against Ukraine," Mamer said.

He emphasized that the European Commission will continue to implement its policy and priorities regarding Ukraine, both in terms of supporting the country and achieving a just and fair peace agreement.

Meanwhile, the Biden administration is preparing to provide Ukraine with the final $6 million in aid before Trump's inauguration.

The Wall Street Journal, citing informed sources, reports that Trump's team has allegedly prepared proposals to end the Russo-Ukrainian war. Among these proposals is Ukraine's renunciation of NATO membership for at least 20 years.
