The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has appointed seven new members of the supervisory board of state postal service company Ukrposhta, it revealed Thursday.

According to the selection process, five independent members of Ukrposta’s supervisory board are selected through competition, while the other two are chosen by the government.

Key requirements for candidates include experience in supervisory boards of large companies; management experience in banking, finance, logistics, or postal services, international and investment activities; and experience in digital and strategic transformations.

The independent members of the supervisory board of Ukrposhta include Rinat Abdrasilov from Kyrgyzstan, Senior Partner at Cambridge Management Consulting, UK; Jakub Karnowski from Poland, who previously served in supervisory boards of Ukrposhta and Ukrainian Railway; Carroll Gary John from UK, who runs a postal business; Olena Malynska from Ukraine, with experience in strategic management and banking; and Ihor Mitiukov also from Ukraine, versed in financial management.

In addition, the government of Ukraine appointed as its representatives Natalia Bernatska, a professor of commercial and labour law, and Kristina Prasolova, an economist.

"This supervisory board should become an impetus for the company's [Ukrposhta’s] development, attracting new investments and implementing modern services. We expect that the new specialists will strengthen the team of the state postal operator," said Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.

She noted that the new supervisory board of Ukrposhta will have a majority of Ukrainian members and would be better acquainted with the realities of the Ukrainian economy.

In turn, foreigners on the board should implement the European experience of transforming organisations similar to Ukrposhta, as well as introduce the latest business development tools in the field of digitalisation and banking.
