German company Rheinmetall has secured a contract with Ukraine's Ministry of Defense to supply propellant charge modules for 155-mm artillery guns, the company's press service reported.

The order, valued at approximately €9 million, includes the delivery of several tens of thousands of various types of charges in January 2025.

"In modern artillery, projectiles and propelling charges are loaded separately in order to achieve different ranges," Rheinmetall noted.

Rheinmetall is one of the world's leading manufacturers of large-caliber ammunition and artillery systems. The company has been supporting Ukraine for an extended period with supplies and services, becoming a key partner of the Ukrainian defense industry in its fight against Russian aggression.

During the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024 in Berlin, Rheinmetall and Ukraine agreed to expand their strategic cooperation. The agreement includes identifying and developing further areas for deeper collaboration.

Specific projects in the planning stage include the production of artillery ammunition, as well as the delivery and production of Lynx infantry fighting vehicles, Rheinmetall stated.

The first plant of Rheinmetall is already operating in Ukraine, with a second plant on the way. The company is also planning to build two more plants—one gunpowder mill and another for manufacturing ammunition.
