Ukraine recorded the lowest net business growth in the last five years

In the first half of 2025, the net growth of businesses in Ukraine amounted to only 11,624, the lowest figure in the last five years. About writes Opendatabot.

A total of 18,277 new companies were registered in Ukraine in the first six months of the year. This is almost as many as in the same period last year, but a third less than before the outbreak of the full-scale war.

At the same time, the number of closed businesses increased by 19%. Since the beginning of the year, 6,653 companies have ceased operations, 97 of which closed in less than six months.

Almost a third of new business registrations were in Kyiv (5,830 companies). This is followed by Lviv (1,547) and Dnipropetrovs'k (1,531).

The leaders in terms of the number of closures were the same regions: Kyiv (717), Lviv (470) and Dnipropetrovs'k (464).

An absolute record in terms of authorized capital was set by the Ukrainian-Italian Partner Company VelAlliance in the construction sector – UAH 14.4 billion.

The largest "mass" founder was Vitaliy Ilnytsky, who opened 886 companies in 2025 alone, most with capital ranging from UAH 1 to UAH 9.8 billion.

By industry, the largest number of new companies is in the wholesale trade (15%), public organizations, real estate, IT, and the agricultural sector. IT is growing the fastest, with a +48% increase in registrations over the year.
