Ukraine to repay $50 billion loan only after Russian reparations
Zelenskyy signed a law allowing Ukraine to defer G7 debt until reparations from Russia are paid

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed Law No.12232, amending the Budget Code of Ukraine regarding the execution of legal acts with conditional obligations.
The document introduces a new concept of "conditional debt obligations," which limits creditors' rights to demand repayment from the state under these terms.
Creditors will be able to demand repayment of the loan amount using state budget funds, particularly in the event of compensation for damages caused by Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine.
Thus, the law establishes that the $50 billion loan that the G7 countries plan to provide Ukraine will not be considered state debt. Ukraine will not repay this loan until it receives reparations from Russia.
