Crisis in Nissan. The company is considering selling its headquarters

Japanese automaker Nissan is considering selling its headquarters in Yokohama as part of a restructuring, the company said on Friday. Nikkei .
The restructuring program includes the closure of seven plants worldwide, including in Japan, and a general business review to restore financial stability.
The Nikkei office building in Yokohama is valued at more than 100 billion Japanese yen, which is about $700 million. The proceeds, if sold, will be used to cover the significant costs associated with plant closures.
Nissan is considering a sale-and-leaseback scheme, under which the building will be sold to a new owner but will continue to be leased and used as its office.
The Yokohama headquarters is included in the list of assets that may be sold during fiscal year 2025.
- Nissan is in a deep crisis. Many of the company's models have not been updated for years and are outdated. For example, the Nissan Leaf, which pioneered electric mobility, is now lagging behind competitors in terms of technology and range.
