China's trade with Russia plummeted in August: exports are the largest since February

China's exports and imports in trade with Russia fell sharply in August 2025. About writes Reuters, citing Chinese customs data.

China's shipments of goods to Russia fell by 16.4% year-on-year in August, the fifth consecutive month of decline and the biggest drop since February. In July, exports were down 8.6%.

Imports from Russia also decreased by 17.8%, while in July they showed an increase of 4.4%.

In the first eight months of 2025, Chinese exports to Russia fell by 8.8%, while imports fell by 8.2%. The total volume of bilateral trade amounted to 1.03 trillion yuan ($145 billion).

These data were made public after the visit Vladimir Putin to Beijing, where he met with the leader of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinpingattended the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and a military parade. The Kremlin called the trip "unprecedented."
