Ukrzaliznytsia was finally able to sell seven out of 33 scrap metal lots after a one and a half year pause

For the first time in over a year and a half, Ukrzaliznytsia held scrap metal auctions on the state-owned platform Prozorro.Sales. This was reported in the electronic system.
The company put up for auction 33 lots of ferrous scrap, of which seven were successfully distributed among the participants. On average, three participants competed for each of these lots.
The starting price of all lots was almost UAH 11.9 million, and according to the results of the auction, the total amount that the winners must pay reached almost UAH 13 million.
The most expensive lot was 300 tons of scrap from railway wheelset axles – for which Ukrzaliznytsia will receive over UAH 2.3 million.
Previously, the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia reported that the first auctions for the sale of 12,000 tons of scrap metal after a one and a half year pause did not take place due to low interest from business.
One of the reasons cited was the potential introduction of licensing and quotas for the export of ferrous scrap.
- In October 2024, Ukrzaliznytsia received the right to independently lease property on a competitive basis, if its book value does not exceed UAH 500 million.
- On April 8, the Cabinet of Ministers allowed Ukrzaliznytsia to sell scrap and crushed stone.
