From the ashes, a village arises: video shows first steps of reconstruction in the south
The State Restoration Agency showed what is happening in Posad-Pokrovske, Kherson Oblast, within the framework of an experimental project for the reconstruction of settlements that suffered as a result of the full-scale war. The destroyed private houses are now being dismantled in the village, the press service of the department reported.
There are three contractors working in the village on 12 streets – these are companies that are starting to rebuild housing. 25 buildings out of 76 have already been dismantled.
The dismantling work should be completed by the end of December, after which the foundations of the new buildings will begin to be poured.
At the first stage, it is planned to restore 120 houses with an area of 50 to 140 square meters.
The first five houses on Diedukha Street began to be rebuilt in August. Currently, four of them are being roofed, and walls are being completed in one more.
REFERENCE. Posad-Pokrovske is a village on the border of Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts. Located 35 kilometers from Kherson. In February-March 2022, after the occupation by the Russians, Kherson was on the front line.
Until November 2022, the Russians shelled the settlement with all available types of weapons, the village was subjected to more than 350 shellings every day. 100% of buildings and structures of municipal and private property were damaged.
Before the full-scale invasion of Russia, 2,240 people lived in the village, during the war there were only 20. Now people are returning.
The Restoration Agency held tenders for the construction of 76 houses, signed agreements with contractors, and began dismantling them.
Tenders are also held for the reconstruction of gas supply systems and the street and road network. A contract has already been concluded for the reconstruction of power grids.
The concept of restoration of Posad-Pokrovske was developed by Archimatika architectural bureau. The project envisages complex reconstruction: the construction of residential buildings and farm buildings. It is also planned to carry out interior decoration so that the houses are ready for occupancy, beautification, connection to communication networks.
Next in the plans of the Restoration Agency is the construction of a school, a kindergarten, and a village council house in this village.
"Police officers, ambulance and firemen will work in the new Security Center. Our Service in Kherson Oblast works with local authorities and maintains contact with residents. We work according to the principle of Build Back Better – to rebuild better than it was," the Restoration Agency concluded.
In March 2023, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Posad-Pokrovske.
At the beginning of May , electricity supply was restored in Posad-Pokrovske The village was without electricity for more than a year.
