Agrarians warn of nitrogen fertilizer shortage: ask to solve the problem of imports

The All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council (AAC) appealed to the Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko and the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, with a request to urgently resolve the problem of importing mineral nitrogen fertilizers. About this reported in the press service of the UAR.
According to farmers, there is a shortage in the fertilizer market, which could lead to a sharp decline in yields.
"The key factor in this is the ban on the import of not only grade A ammonium nitrate, which is indeed an explosive substance, but also other nitrogen fertilizers that are completely explosion-proof," the statement says.
The UAC emphasized that Ukraine remains completely dependent on imports of mineral fertilizers, and that active fertilization is underway.
"Without this, it is impossible to ensure the future harvest. If this problem is not urgently resolved, next year the country will face a 30% reduction in the yield of key crops and, as a result, a food crisis," the UAC added.
Farmers propose to allow imports of at least basic fertilizers: UAN, ammonium sulfate, urea, potassium chloride, superphosphate and complex NPK (10-26-26, 8-20-30, 18-18-18, 20-20-20).
- Due to drought, spring frosts, Russian drone attacks and fires, farmers in Kherson region lost more than 50,000 hectares winter crops.
- Locust invasion following drought destroy the crop in the southern regions of Ukraine.
