Apples of the new harvest in Ukraine are sold almost three times more expensive than last year

Purchase prices for apples of the new harvest are currently 60-70 UAH/kg ($1.43-1.67/kg), which is 2.9 times more expensive than at the start of the season last year. About reports EastFruit.
This week, the season of harvesting early varieties of new crop apples began in Ukraine. According to the project's analysts, the first harvesting was almost the same time as last year.
According to market participants, the start of the Ukrainian apple supply season immediately affected sales of imported products, as demand for them declined.
At the same time, Ukrainian suppliers are in no hurry to cut prices. They explain this by saying that the main supply of apples on the market is still represented by imports, and demand for these fruits is still weak, as buyers are more interested in seasonal berries and fruits.
The massive supply of Ukrainian apples to the market is expected to start next week.
According to gardeners, with the expansion of supply, prices will gradually decline. This will apply to both Ukrainian and imported apples.
- In May, the price of sweet cherries in Ukraine was the highest in the last ten years despite a drop to 150 UAH/kg.
