The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has transferred 57 cogeneration gas piston units with capacities ranging from 50 kW to 1500 kW to Ukraine, the Ministry of Infrastructure reported.

Thanks to this, heating companies will be able to generate an additional 56.5 MW of electricity for their own needs and provide heating for about 1 million citizens and 960 social sector facilities.
These include schools and hospitals, as well as other local critical infrastructure facilities, including water utilities.

USAID is purchasing a total of 91 cogeneration units for 32 cities in Ukraine and two universities to ensure stable heating and power supply during the winter period.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated in December that Ukraine is expected to receive 69 mini thermal power plants of small and medium capacity by the end of 2023.
