Russia attacks DTEK mine in Western Donbas; administrative buildings damaged

On Monday, February 2, Russian forces attacked one of DTEK Pavlogradugol’s mines in the Western Donbas for the second time within 24 hours, the company’s press service said.
"Fortunately, no employees were injured. The attack damaged the company’s administrative buildings," the statement said.
The day before, Russian drones targeted a miners’ bus, killing 12 passengers and wounding 16 others.
This was the deadliest attack on DTEK since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Administration, reported that a second attack took place in Ternivka.
"While the city was recovering from the previous strike, the aggressor attacked again with a UAV overnight. The administrative building and its annex caught fire," he said.
DTEK Pavlogradugol is Ukraine’s largest coal mining enterprise and is part of Rinat Akhmetov’s DTEK Holding.
- Last January, another company owned by Akhmetov, Metinvest, was forced to suspend coking coal production at its Pokrovsk mine, and workers were evacuated.
