Russians shell DTEK coal enrichment plant in Donbas

On Monday, September 8, Russian forces shelled DTEK Energy’s coal enrichment plant in Donbas. Although the plant has already been shut down, Russian attacks on the facility continue, the company’s website reported.
Workers on duty were in a shelter during the strike and were not injured.

Due to the proximity of the front line and the increasing threat to employees’ lives, the company had previously suspended operations at the facility. Production processes were mothballed to allow for a restart once the security situation stabilizes, while staff (except for on-call personnel) were reassigned to other company sites.
At present, the company’s operations remain completely halted, and its enrichment facilities are severely damaged.
The Donetsk regional police press service reported in its daily bulletin that Russian forces dropped two KAB-250 guided bombs on Dobropillya and also attacked the city with a Geran-2/Shahed-136 drone. One of the town’s industrial enterprises was damaged in the strike.
- According to Mykhailo Volynets, head of the Confederation of Free Trade Unions and a member of parliament, Russian forces have already destroyed most of Donbas’s coal infrastructure.
