Ukrpaletsystem, a member of the network owner's business group UPG Volodymyr Petrenko, has received permission from the Antimonopoly Committee to acquire control over 47 gas stations. This was reported by the regulator reported following the meeting on July 31.

The AMCU allowed Ukrpaletsystem to acquire control over the assets of ten companies: Ailong Evolution, Albiland, Angel Capital, Corso Town, Lyke Invest, Naftaprime, Newport Holding, Sirius Gold, Sorella Oil, and Taros Group.

on July 10, UPG received a permit for the second attempt to lease of 34 gas stations of Privat Group in Kyiv and Kyiv region.

Head of the AMCU Pavel Kirilenko in an interview with the NefteRynok publication said the company plans to become the third key player in the fuel market alongside WOG and OKKO.

According to him, after UPG has been granted permission to lease 47 filling stations, applications for lease of 46 more will be considered. These are gas stations owned by Privat Group and located in the southeastern, eastern and central regions.

Mr. Kirilenko explained that UPG's strategy is to acquire assets in stages: first lease and then purchase.

"According to our estimates, we are talking about more than 550 facilities. However, to acquire ownership, the company must apply to the AMCU again and obtain another merger clearance. It is necessary to closely monitor how this process will go," he said.

  • Earlier, Petrenko in interview LIGA.net said that it costs about $5 million to set up a UPG-format filling station, while the construction of a small filling station in Ukraine will cost $1.3-1.4 million by 2025. Therefore, the company is considering options for buying and renovating gas stations in poor condition.
