Operators may cut services in tariffs due to unified roaming with the EU – Komarov

Following Ukraine's accession to the EU's Roaming as Home common roaming space, Ukrainian mobile operators may revise their tariff terms. About reported company president Kyivstar Oleksandr Komarov in an interview with LIGA.net.
According to Komarov, operators will not raise prices, but they may reduce the number of minutes and gigabytes provided in packages.
According to him, the rules of the single roaming zone with the EU stipulate that customers abroad should be provided with the same scope of services as in Ukraine.
In general, the roaming zone is designed for traveling for a few days. But, according to Komarov, millions of Ukrainians have lived abroad for years and use Ukrainian SIM cards.
"And this distorts the picture of usage a bit. That is, they use mobile communications as if they were at home. And these are completely different levels of consumption, which has a very significant impact on the economics of the respective tariff plans."komarov noted.
Therefore, operators can adjust tariff plans by reducing the number of gigabytes and minutes. This process will be gradual and will not affect most users, Komarov added.
"It will be an evolutionary process when Ukrainian operators will adjust to the new conditions."the president of Kyivstar emphasized.
- july 14, the Cabinet of Ministers officially approved roaming visa-free travel between Ukraine and the EU from January 1, 2026.
