The Supervisory Board of PJSC Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company, the largest state-owned shipping company in Ukraine, held its first meeting. About said press service of the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development.

The purpose of the meeting was to introduce the members of the Board and the company's management, discuss the state of the company and the industry, and plan the first meeting of the Supervisory Board to be held in September.

The supervisory board of the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company consists of five members: three independent members and two state representatives:

Benoît Plesca (Belgium) – independent member of the Supervisory Board, partner at Roof & Food, Romania, Head of Danone Romania (1996-2000), member of the Board of Directors of the National Postal Service of Romania (2014-2019), former chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ukrposhta (2018-2023);
Michael Jørgensen (Denmark) – independent member of the Supervisory Board, former CFO of Pacific Basin Group, in various years he was Vice President, CFO of Maersk Logistics, DS Noerden, worked in listed companies in Denmark (Nasdaq Copenhagen) and Hong Kong (HKEX);
Dennis Lent Olesen (Denmark) is an independent member of the Supervisory Board, Chief Operating Officer of APM Terminals Europe and Africa, with over 20 years of management experience in Europe, Africa and the Middle East;
Andrii Kashuba (Ukraine) – Member of the Supervisory Board, State Representative, Deputy Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine. He worked as Deputy Director of the State Enterprise Maritime Safety Agency (2010-2013), at the State Enterprise Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (2013-2025);
Taras Boichuk (Ukraine) – Member of the Supervisory Board – representative of the state, managing partner of Spilno LLC, consultant to the World Bank Group, head of the SPILNO project office for public-private partnerships at the Ministry of Development (advisory body).

"The state is interested in the development of Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company, as it is a strategically important enterprise for our industry, the Danube region and the country's economic security," said Andriy Kashuba.

According to Igor Chertov, Director of UDP, the company's strategy for 2025 includes:

cost optimization and staff restructuring;
attracting new contracts (transportation in the Black Sea and Danube regions);
modernization of the fleet and production facilities;
creation of a modern training complex for crew training.

With the outbreak of a full-scale war, the Danube region's ports became an alternative to the blocked Black Sea ports and the only safe channel for Ukrainian exports.

Launch of the Grain Initiative, and later Ukrainian maritime corridorallowed to partially resume cargo handling in the ports of Odesa region.

At the same time, the further development of the Danube ports is key to the economic security of the state and the preservation of jobs in the Danube region, the Ministry emphasized.
