Power curtailment schedules for industrial customers will be in effect tonight from 6 p.m. to midnight, reported the press service of Ukrenergo.

If consumption continues to grow, emergency shutdowns may affect household consumers too, the company warns.

Ukrenergo started limiting energy supply to industry and businesses yesterday, after a massive missile and drone attack by Russia the night before.

Limiting consumption is a necessary measure to preserve the stability of the energy system after the fifth targeted missile attack by the enemy on power plants this year, Ukrenergo explains.

There is a significant shortage of electricity in the power system throughout the day, except for daytime hours. The reason is large-scale damage to Ukrainian power plants, due to which they cannot produce the same amount of electricity as before the attack.

During the day, the amount of electricity deficit decreases thanks to the active operation of renewable energy power plants. In other hours, the lack of electricity is significant.

In order to avoid outages for household consumers, the dispatch center of Ukrenergo takes all possible measures to overcome the shortage: import and emergency assistance from European countries, as well as limiting the consumption of industrial consumers.

On the night of May 8, Russia launched its fifth massive missile and drone attack on Ukraine since the beginning of spring. The enemy used 55 missiles and 21 Shahed attack drones. The target of the Russian attack was electricity generation and transmission facilities in the Poltava, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Vinnytsia oblasts.
