The prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) decided to complete the pre-trial investigation of the case against the former general director of the Energoatom division — Energoatom-Trading — of fraud during the sale of electricity at auctions, reported the SAPO press service.

Currently, the suspect holds a managerial position in one of the branches of the state rail company Ukrzaliznytsia, the SAPO added.

The investigation established that in September 2020, an official of Energoatom ensured the sale of electricity to the winner of the auction at a reduced price of UAH 1,120 ($30) for 1 MWh. At the same time, other auction participants offered more favorable prices of up to UAH 1,300 ($35) for 1 MWh, according to NABU.

In total, 1,465,000 MWh were sold at this auction, which caused losses to the state enterprise in the total amount of UAH 93.76 million ($2.54 million).

NABU issued a notice of suspicion to the former Energoatom official in February 2023.
