The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a draft decision to create conditions for Ukraine to join the EU internal market in the field of roaming, the government portal reports.

The document proposes to supplement the lists and schedules of Ukraine's adaptation of EU legislation in the telecommunications services sector, including roaming, taking into account current changes in EU legislation.

"This year, this area will be a 'pilot' for the full legal integration of Ukraine into the intra-European regulation," commented Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko.

The approved document is in line with the action plan for the implementation of the free trade agreement between Ukraine and the EU. The main focus of this plan is Ukraine's integration into the EU internal market.

According to the minister, the plan includes 29 measures that allow for the completion of existing projects, such as the industrial "visa-free regime", and the start of work on integration into the EU internal market in all areas suitable for this.

"Our goal is to integrate into the EU's internal market without waiting for EU accession," Svyrydenko concluded.

On September 14, 2022, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen promised that Ukraine would join the EU roaming zone.

On February 2, 2023, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal named the goals of European integration for 2023: EU roaming and "industrial visa-free regime."

On February 3, mobile operators in Ukraine and the EU extended affordable roaming for Ukrainians in Europe.
