A trillion hryvnias in the shadows. What will the tax authorities, the prosecutor's office and the State Bureau of Investigations do about it

This year, due to the shadow economy, the Ukrainian budget may lose more than one trillion hryvnias. This is almost half of the state's official revenue.
While some companies pay billions in taxes, their competitors operate in the "grey zone," creating unfair market conditions. "White" businesses demand that the state take a tougher stance against unscrupulous players and stop the unjustified pressure on honest entrepreneurs.
During the 11th Kyiv International Economic Forum, held in Kyiv on October 16-17, representatives of legitimate businesses and government discussed why the scale of shadow economy is reaching critical levels and what needs to be changed to bring the economy out of the shadows. LIGA.net publishes the theses of the discussion participants.
