In monetary terms, last month's exports reached $3.3 billion, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine reported.
"As a result of April, we have a record volume of exports since Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine – 13.1 million tons. This is 1.3 million tons more than in March and more than Ukraine exported in February 2022," said Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko.
Factors contributing to the growth in export figures include:
→ The opening of an alternative maritime corridor last summer, allowing Ukraine to export grain and metals, among other products;
→ The UNITY marine insurance program, created jointly with the UK government and a pool of insurance companies;
→ Expanding the capacity of the Solidarity Lines, especially with Moldova and Romania;
→ Improved conditions for rail transport of goods to Danube ports.
In February, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Ukraine had returned to pre-war levels of maritime exports. In monetary terms, maritime exports amounted to $1.9 billion, while total Ukrainian exports reached $3.1 billion in January. In January, Ukrainian companies exported 12 million tons of products, of which 8.7 million tons were transported by sea.
In April, the Grampet Group, the leading private rail freight operator in Romania, completed the construction of a transshipment terminal for agricultural products. The terminal, located in Dornești (Suceava County) on the border with Ukraine, will become a strategic hub on the route to the port of Constanța.
