The AMCU initiated a case against the five largest pharmacy chains

On October 2, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) launched a case against 155 companies that are part of the five largest pharmacy chains in Ukraine. The regulator suspects them of concerted actions that may limit competition in the market, reports AMCU press service.
According to the information available to the AMCU, as of July 2025, the five largest pharmacy chains – ANC, Dobroho dnia, 9-1-1,, , Podorozhnyk,, and Zhazhayemo zdorovya – control 64% of retail turnover and own 42% of all pharmacy outlets (7742 outlets).
"It is believed that these groups of pharmacies have signs of market power and the ability to significantly influence the conditions of goods turnover in the market," the regulator said .
In particular, since February 2025, a decrease in the availability of medicines from three Ukrainian manufacturers in pharmacies has been recorded, despite stable demand. Such actions may indicate a deliberate restriction on the sale of certain medicines, which is contrary to the legislation on the protection of economic competition.
