The owner of the largest defense concern in the Czech Republic buys the Victoria football club

The richest man in the Czech Republic, Michal Strnad, has signed a contract to buy a controlling stake in the football club Viktoria Plzen, joining a group of energy and industrial tycoons who own the country's leading teams. About writes Bloomberg.

The acquisition is a private investment by Strnad – the club will not be part of his defense concern Czechoslovak Group (CSG), which produces armored vehicles and ammunition.

Strnad is acquiring a stake in the Austrian company FCVP GmbH. The deal is undisclosed and is subject to antitrust approval.

Thus, Strnad joined the ranks of the richest Czech entrepreneurs who own football clubs. Among them are energy tycoon Pavel Tykáč (Slavia Praha) and EPH co-owner Daniel Kretinsky, the main shareholder of Sparta Prague.
