Ukraine plans to repair 3.2 GW of capacity by the end of 2025 – Hrynchuk

The Ukrainian government plans to repair 3.2 GW of destroyed and damaged generation facilities in 2025. This was announced by the Minister of Energy Svitlana Hrynchuk during the presentation of the government's draft program.
According to Grinchuk, most of these works have already been completed, and the process is going according to plan, with some indicators even ahead of schedule.
In addition, one of the most important areas of preparation for the heating season is the protection of energy facilities.
The Ministry of Energy, together with the military, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Special Communications Service, and energy companies, holds regular meetings and works out the most effective tools for physical and air defense of energy facilities.
At the same time, the development of distributed generation continues. In 2025 more than 600 MW of additional capacity has already been commissioned and at least 350 MW of gas generation is planned by the end of the year.
According to forecasts, another 500 MW will be provided by private sector projects.
The government is also preparing resource reserves: natural gas and coal. By the beginning of the heating season, it is planned to accumulate at least 13.2 billion cubic meters of gas, of which 4.6 billion cubic meters will be imported.
Hrynchuk added that the government is simplifying regulatory procedures to speed up the restoration, repair and development of new energy facilities, including power lines and gas infrastructure.
- A year ago, Ukraine had the following at different stages of development 58 wind farm projects with a total capacity of over 7 GW.
- On July 10, it was reported that Ukraine is building more than 700 MW of new wind farms with 200 MW of energy storage systems.
