Plans for winter preparation will need to be adjusted following the massive attack Russian forces launched on Ukraine's energy system on Monday, August 26, said Yuriy Boyko, advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine and member of the supervisory board of NEC Ukrenergo.

"It's quite obvious that following the attack, it will be necessary to analyze the state of the energy system, the changes which will undoubtedly be negative, and accordingly, adjust plans for winter preparation," Boyko said at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

It's currently difficult to say how much today's attack will affect the planned restoration of the energy system and the announced possibility of providing electricity to consumers without restrictions in September-October.

"But I think that by the end of today, we will understand the situation and efforts to restore the energy system will be adjusted very promptly," noted the Ukrenergo supervisory board member.

Boyko said that no attack removes the task of preparing for the heating season for energy workers. Still, it's necessary to understand the consequences of the attack and adjust plans accordingly.
