MEP Karin Karlsbro: Sometimes agricultural lobbies in the EU become Putin's "useful idiots"

"In all my years in the European Parliament, I have never encountered such aggressive lobbying as the one we see around agricultural issues," says Karin Karlsbro (Renew Europe), a Member of the European Parliament from Sweden.
A prime example of their work: subsidies to European farmers. For 2023-2027 alone, €189.2 billion is planned in the EU budget for direct subsidies. And also cancellation a free trade regime for agricultural products with Ukraine, and return to agricultural quotas.
In an interview LIGA.net Karin Karlsbro spoke about the biggest challenges related to Ukrainian integration: what the powerful European agricultural lobby is really afraid of, why it ignores real facts, and how, without intending to, its representatives become "useful idiots" whose rhetoric perfectly coincides with the narratives of Russian propaganda.
What Ukrainian agricultural businesses can expect and how to leverage the interests of different groups in the European Parliament – read the interview. LIGA.net
