From the beginning of 2025 to mid-June, about 70% of used cars remain within the region after being resold in Ukraine. This is evidenced by data from the Institute for Automotive Market Research.

IDA has published for the first time a study on the migration of used passenger cars between regions of Ukraine after transferring from one owner to another within Ukraine.

The Institute noted that such analytics reflect not only consumer activity, but also the level of demand, the saturation of the car fleet, the availability of service, and even the socio-economic mobility of residents of the regions.

In general, about 70% of cars in the country remain within the region, about 10% leave for other regions, and about 20% arrive from outside.

The Kyiv region plays a special role in the domestic market, with over 75% of cars sold going to other regions. This is explained by the high concentration of dealers and the large volume of commercial imports.

"This is a unique situation that may indicate that the region plays the role of a logistics or wholesale hub," the IDA emphasized.

In contrast, in Chernivtsi region, over 81% of cars remain within the region after sale. A similar situation is observed in Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Odesa and Zakarpattia regions, where the domestic market is more "closed".

At the same time, Kyiv and Lviv demonstrate a moderate level of internal migration: about 63% of cars remain in their regions, which indicates stable demand and high activity in the market.

In Donetsk and Kherson regions, over 40% of used cars are purchased from other regions. This may be a result of pent-up demand, changes in population structure, or the loss of part of the local car fleet due to the war.

Other regions, including Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Zhytomyr, and Poltava, have a stable market with a predominance of "local" deals.
