Ukraine’s state energy firm Naftogaz has announced exchange trading for the purchase of natural gas produced in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Energy Exchange will be the platform for the procurement of gas, the company said in a statement, not yet disclosing the volume of potential purchases or their price.

Naftogaz plans to buy natural gas on the terms of delivery at a virtual outlet or in underground gas storage facilities in April and the following months.

Potential bidders will have to undergo an internal audit of the company and provide detailed information about themselves and their ownership structure.

In 2022, Naftogaz was obliged to buy gas from Ukrainian producers.

Last month, the company’s CEO, Oleksii Chernyshov, announced that it plans to abandon gas imports during the next heating season by increasing its own production and purchasing gas from private companies.
