The Verkhovna Rada by 250 votes expressed no confidence in Valeriy Patskan, the head of the Accounting Chamber, whom the National Anti-Corruption Bureau suspects of corruption. Patskan has now been dismissed from the post of chairman and member of the Accounting Chamber, Golos MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak reports.

The parliament failed to discharge Patskan on the first attempt back in December 2022. There were not enough votes for the corresponding decision.

The head of the Accounting Chamber was dismissed in accordance with the norm of Art. 12 of the Law "On the Legal Regime of Martial Law", namely by expressing no confidence from at least one-fourth of the parliamentarians. The collected signatures of 113 legislators sufficed for this.

"This is already the second example after the human rights ombudsperson, Mrs. Denisova. The approach is questionable, the norm was not prescribed for this at all, but it is what it is," Zheleznyak wrote in Telegram.

Hennadiy Plis is expected to take over as the new head of the Accounting Chamber.

The Verkhovna Rada appointed Valeriy Patskan as the head of the Accounting Chamber in March 2018. The term of office of the head of the Accounting Chamber is six years.

His predecessor, Roman Mahuta, also figures in the NABU criminal proceedings. He is accused of expropriating an office apartment and transferring ownership to a relative.

On November 4, 2022, the head of the Accounting Chamber resigned after being charged by NABU.

On November 16, Patskan confirmed that he was resigning, but complained about a political showdown.
