The Moldovan Railways has agreed to provide a 27-percent discount on the transit of Ukrainian agricultural products to the ports of Reni, Giurgiulesti and Galati, Ukraine’s agrarian policy and food ministry said in a statement.

Ukraine's agriculture minister, Mykola Solskyi, his Moldovan counterpart Vladimir Bola, and the head of the Moldovan Railways agreed on the discount during an online meeting, also attended by representatives of the Ukrainian Railways.

The discount will be effective from 15 July 2023.

According to the new tariffs for railway transit, the application of a discount coefficient to the base tariffs is subject to compliance with the volumes of traffic by all forwarding organisations.

To recalculate the tariff, either the monthly freight volume has to be met or the average monthly freight volume over the past three months has to be greater than or equal to the monthly freight volume.

Moldova is also reconstructing two sections of the railway, which will increase the transit of goods from Ukraine to the EU.
